A little while back, I decided that it might be fun to interview some fellow bloggers for the times. That way I could get to know them better, AND provide some interesting content. The obvious first choice for an interview was Jett, who's not just interesting, she always has something to say about stuff. Also, the sudden disappearance of her weblog (All Blogged Up And Nowhere To Go) pending a makeover left a lot of Jett fans jonesin. After e-mailing her to set things up, we had a nice chat. The interview was via AIM, because I decided that e-mail allowed for too much thinking and revision, and I wanted to see if she was as quick on her feet as she appears to be in her blog (she is). Since all previous communications had been via blog comments and e-mail, we spent a while getting to know each other. For a while there it was looking like the Skillzy Interview, but we finally got down to bizness....
We're chatting tonight with Jett Superior, ubermistress of ABUANTG and advocate for those who blog with their hearts.
Here's a little about her:
"Me? I been writing since I could wrap my pudgy toddler fingers around a
pencil; I been weblogging for about four years now. I think my views on
it are summed up best by what I posted in someone's comments the other
day: 'THIS is what I always say that weblogging is about: A working bit of
history infused with heart.' Maybe that perspective would be considered
trite to all the pundits and wannabe newsjockeys out there, but there
is far more value sociologically (and sometimes psychologically) to this
medium than is actively acknowledged.
"But what the fuck do I know? I'm just a gal with too little time, too
much responsibility and far too many words. Sometimes, though, those words
sit up on the screen just right and that makes me feel better about things in
general."
Jett: I've had a rather keyed-up day, *snort*
Skillzy: when are your days NOT keyed up?
Jett: I'm a lot more laid-back than people think/realize
but when I go off, I go OFF
Skillzy: yeah, when I go off, I'm still pretty laid back
Jett: I kinda figgered.
Skillzy: How'd you get the name Jett? Why not Susie Kewe, or Hot
Abercrombie Chick?
Jett: Well, I was a pretty busy child. Always kind of
go-go-go...not hyperactive, mind you. And my parents were all, "There goes
our little jet girl." My best friend in high school slapped on the extra
't', as she was 'Catt'. That stupid girly stuff, you know. For the
record, we never dressed alike!
Skillzy: How much does Pepsi pay you to say you drink that crap? Are
they financing your blog
makeover?
Jett: NOW NOW, you communist.... The origins to soda names
crack me up.
Skillzy: you won't answer the question, so I assume it's a Pepsi backed
conspiracy
Jett: Co-Cola had the whole COKE thing going on, so here
comes Pepsi up from behind: PEPsi. Get some in your step! ...and Dr.
Pepper, the nummy laxative.... Strange, really.
At this point, I lost my wireless connection, and along with it several questions. If I would've used Yahoo, nothing would've been lost, because you can archive everything. Maybe you can do this with AIM, but I don't know how. AIM is basically a spyware and advertisement delivery system with a messenger client tacked on. I hate AIM and I hate AOL.
The first question had to do with how she got involved with the Decablog, then there was a question about Georgia Satellites versus Black Crowes (she picked Black Crowes - WRONG), and then there was a question that I'm pissed that I lost - "Name one book (or movie) that changed your life, or had a big effect on you.". Her answer was the Bible, and she went into how she once won a summer reading contest because she read the entire Bible, and her Mom convinced the teacher that the Bible is not one book, but a collection of shorter books. That formed a big part of how she saw her mother from then on. This was a good part of the interview, and I blame AOL for its loss.
