Fifty years ago tonight Hank Williams died at the age of 29, and country music lost one of it's brightest stars. I grew up not far from where he's buried, it was a big place to party back in the 70's, not sure about now.
Some guy rips into Everquest on Slashdot. His point in the second paragraph is a good one, these games do turn into a chore after a while, that's why I quit Asheron's Call and why none of the other massively multiplayer online games (including The Sims Online) was able to keep my attention. I keep going back to CounterStrike where you can jump on, shoot a bunch of strangers, and sign off anytime without worrying about guild meetings or finding your corpse.
Looks like it's getting close to go time in Iraq. And now Korea is acting up too. And to top it all off the Canadians are working on cloning an alien invasion force!
Hey ladies wanna get paid to watch porn? On the downside there is the small matter of the ummm doohickey that they use to measure your arousal. And the room looks kinda creepy.
The top sex toys of 2002, courtesy of Boostay. It's really just a clever ad for the site's wares, which explains why Christina Aguilera didn't make the list.
Yahoo picks the best driving songs for 2002. The best driving songs of all time are Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper's "Get Out of My Way!" and "Ain't Got No Boss", which can fortunately be found on the same album!
Porn in the news - The Senate now has their own version of the Spice Channel, and some poor doofus is out of a job. Also looking for work are some Romanian gymnasts who made some nekkid videos in Japan. Those Japanese sure do love their fetishes!
I have uncovered more evil Canadian propaganda meant to undermine the USA and move forward their plans for world domination! I think it's time we expanded the Axis of Evil....
(Sung to the tune of "Girlfriend In A Coma" by The Smiths) Natural selection, I know, I know, it's serious.
Yet another geek Xmas list. They mentioned the Innogear mp3 player that I already asked for, so they're probably sold out by now.
Mookie has redone the look of his site. Go check it out! I like the new layout, but I'm gonna miss Gene Simmons and Al Pacino.....
So yesterday I was over at the place where my company parks their servers, trying without much success to reconfigure some stuff. I was on an old hand-me down ThinkPad running XP, and after I had been on a while it gave me one of those "Updates Ready to Install" messages, so I started the install. Five minutes later, the machine locks up and won't reboot into Windows, it's just in a reboot death loop. Luckily, I had installed SuSE on the machine when I set it up to fool around with, and was able to do what I needed to do with Linux. And that, my friends, is the latest reason why Microsoft is going to have a very hard time getting any more money out of me.
I stumbled across this site yesterday kinda by accident. It has some cool stuff, you can post answers to random nosy questions, or submit photos to various projects. Naturally, my favorite is the sex project, although it's kinda scary what some people consider sexy, and there aren't nearly enough pictures of women's behinds.
Is there really a Santa Claus? This guy sent a letter a FedEx letter to Santa to see where it goes and who signs for it, and tracked it. Looks like the elves have a field office here in the US.
Some people understand the real power of the Internet and use it for archiving important historical documents. Take this guy, for instance. You can see history unfold, from the first record (and one of the most famous), right up to today. See what was going on the month you were born, and how technology has progressed over the years!
Speakin of Christmas, if you have any geeks (or wannabes) on your list, head on over to thinkgeek.com and get em what they really want, which is apparently black t-shirts and electronic doodads. Let's see, I want a SoundBug, and a Lian-Li case, and ummmm her. Also, get me this mp3 player that's not on thinkgeek. Thanks a million, Happy Holidays! w00t!!
If you're having trouble getting into the Christmas spirit and drinking hasn't helped, maybe you should head on over to TheYuleLog.net and put up a holiday fireplace on your screen with cheesy Xmas tunes playing in the background. It's free, so even if you've already maxed out your credit cards, you can enjoy it!
Thanks to 3bruces, Hard Times now has an official theme song, complete with flash animation! I like these guys' music....they even have a song with sleestak references!
Well I survived the Great Carolina Ice Age of 2002. There are still over 100,000 poor folks without power, hopefully they'll be out of the dark soon.
