The top two reasons to miss Columbus. Notice the sky? It was a gorgeous day yesterday, pretty much perfect. And as a bonus, I got to see how bricks are made! The sandwiches at Fat Freddie's were as good as I remembered, and Sweetbriar got a major makeover a couple of years ago, so I got to hang out in a big comfy leather chair while I visited with the guys and smoked a big fat La Gloria Cubana.

I still straddle the fence between XP and Linux, but there are certain things (like graphics) that I only do on Linux now. On with the list:
1) Mozilla Firebird - shocker, huh? My favorite browser in any OS
2) The GIMP - excellent graphics program, the source of all those cute little buttons over there
3) nmap - all-purpose network scanner and security tool
4) Emacs (NOT XEmacs!) - text-based programming tool extraordinaire. The color coding is helpful when working with HTML or PHP.
5) Yahoo Messenger (for Linux) - no chat rooms, no cams, just good old instant messaging.
6) gFTP - nice GUI for FTPing files back and forth around the 'net
7) XMMS - media player for Linux
The best part is that all of the above is 100% FREE! And they're all as good or better than their Windows counterparts.|||106561864689074803|||10/08/2003 07:24:00 AM|||Skillzy|||Hmm, looks like another disgruntled Alabama fan is on the loose.|||106561585960735233|||10/08/2003 07:22:00 AM|||Skillzy|||Gee, maybe we aren't supposed to hang out with big, hairy carnivores. Wow....yesterday was an incredible day for a football game, and I got to be there for an incredible game. Someone has perpetrated quite a hack and stolen the source code for Half Life 2, one of the most anticipated upcoming games out there at the moment. Not only did they steal it, they released it into the wild, and copies are flying around the Internet as we speak. Like Gabe says, this sucks...it's definitely gonna hurt both the game and Valve.

Basically, the guy is a professional loudmouth, just like Al Sharpton or Al Franken or Sean Hannity - they make money when they get a reaction, and they always have people gunning for them. I don't like the guy, he's kinda boring, but I admire the fact that he's able to say what he thinks. Rush was in a no-win situation, if he had left out the black part and just said McNabb was overrated, he'd still be racist for daring to voice his opinion about a quarterback who was black. We've reached a point where you're only entitled to your opinion if there's not someone out there willing to shout you down if you dare voice it.
